"Once we were engaged we immediately started looking at venue's and were eager to get something booked and start planning. Heather grew up in the village of Pensford and had always wanted to get married in Publow Church so we did not need to decide on a wedding venue, just somewhere for the reception. We started looking for relaxed receptions venues no more than a 30 minute radius away, we didnt want stately homes or hotels we just wanted somewhere that we could throw a nice informal fun party for all of our friends and relatives. There was nothing that was an exact fit within our radius and so we started to look at alternative choices, the village hall seemed far too simple but the more we thought about it, the better it seemed. With a good imagination and lots of decoration we were sure it could work.

Six months on the date, church and hall were booked. The photographer and florist closely followed and Heather started to finalise all other major suppliers. Things kept moving along and all was going well but we kept thinking about how it was all going to work on the day and how we knew everything would run smoothly. Our parents were very supportive and said that they could take care of this but we really just wanted everyone to enjoy the day and not be worrying about the schedule and organising suppliers and caterers. We were very clear on the sort of reception we wanted and it included a packed schedule of food and drink plus games and 2 quick changes of table layout, this would take quite a bit of supervision and with hired caterers and waiting staff from different companies it seemed all a bit muddled.

Heather looked into options and came across wedding planners that did 'on the day co-ordination'. Having never considered hiring a wedding planner we did not even know this type of service existed but it looked perfect for what we wanted. Heather immediately started to make enquiries and had a consultation meeting with Julia where she bombarded her with fabric samples, scrapbook cuttings and ideas. The rest as they say is history as we knew straight away that we wanted to hire Julia after meeting her and talking things through.

Julia kept in touch throughout the months leading up to the wedding and around 4 weeks before came to meet us at the hall and the real organisation took hold! We thought we had covered everything and only needed Julia for the day - little did we know! Julia helped out in sourcing any suppliers that we didnt have and needed, this was really helpful as we were stuck on a few things like DJ and waiting staff, it was so useful to get a proffessional's point of view and she thought of everything that we didnt. Things like recycling and how we would store and get rid of that, how we would affix decorations, if we needed to bring any additional toilet rolls, etc. - these are all things that you dont consider and only a proffessional would know about. If we had not hired Julia we really would not have had the same result on the day, absolutely everything was taken care of even the external decorations that we could not put up the day before in case it rained. Julia turned up at 7 in the morning and worked all day never stopping to make sure everything was perfect. Our wedding was amazing and all of our guests that we have spoken to have commented on how lovely it was and what a wonderful day they had, one of our friends even commented that it was the best wedding she had ever been to! The ideas and intial plans were ours but the execution of the day and the smooth running of the schedule throughout the day (which went without a hitch) were all down to Julia. She was a breath of fresh air to have around, never getting stressed out and always thinking of the bride and groom and trying to do as much as possible for us.

If you are considering having a wedding with a bit of flair that needs someone to see it through on the day you must, must, must hire Julia to help. Even if you think you have it all covered and dont need a wedding 'planner' you do need her! The weeks before our wedding everyone kept saying to us that we must be really stressed out and running about all over the place. In truth we had nothing to do! Julia did everything that we asked and everything that needed doing without us even asking.. Weddings are fantastic but they can be stressful, Julia is a way of having the best of both worlds - all the glory and none of the stress!"

We contacted Julia about a year before our wedding as we were planning our wedding independently and were very much taking a DIY approach to the day. We weren't using a venue that came with a package and did everything for you so we booked Julia's on the day package to give us the reassurance that somebody would be there to help everything run as smoothly as possible!
It was single handedly the best investment we made, from the minute we met Julia to the day after the event when she was helping us clear up, she was an absolute star, and real value for money.

She did more than we could have hoped for, both in the lead up to the day and the day itself. By taking over all contact with our suppliers about 2 weeks before it enabled us to focus on getting ourselves ready and she was really helpful in helping us with ideas and reminding us of things we hadn’t thought of.
On the day she was invaluable, taking a real hands on approach, doing everything from getting to the venue early to help prepare it, hand plucking rose petals to make us confetti, opening bottles of wine, coordinating our suppliers and even getting paracetamol for us when the champagne became too much!! She was also incredibly smiley through it all!
Julia 100% put our minds at rest and was absolutely integral to the success of our day and it being so amazing for the both of us.

Aside from being a really lovely, warm and genuine person, Julia is incredibly professional and knows her stuff. We trusted her from the minute we met her and would recommend that anyone who needs a hand with their big day should do the same!

"My wife and I wanted to squeeze a lot of various set pieces into our big day and we were worried that trying to co-ordinate these ourselves would be too stressful on what would be a very emotional day.

If we truly wanted to enjoy our wedding with no distractions we were going to need someone to co-ordinate everything, my wife found Julia 's website on the net and we were both impressed by the comments from other people.

We met Julia as we did with any supplier, who put us at ease immediately from when we first met to discuss the big day. Julia took so much off of our shoulders during the planning process greatly reducing our stress less to say the least!

When it came to the big day, there is only one word I can use to describe it ... flawless. Julia made sure everything went to plan and to time.  The guests commented on what a perfect day it was and Julia deserves a lot of credit for that.

Julia’s personal touch can be experienced throughout the whole day, the precision and preparedness shows that Julia takes what she does very seriously and that she strives on a quality based approach and not wanting to try and fit in as many weddings as she can. We both felt that our wedding was incredibly important to Julia and on the day Julia made us the centre of her universe!

As many other of Julia's clients have stated having a co-ordinator and planner is one of the best decisions you can make when getting married, we would happily have paid 4 or 5 times what we did to ensure that the day went as perfectly as it did.
Don't take on the stress of worrying about the day, let Julia experience the day with you and you won't regret it!"

After we got engaged we opted to marry quickly as we had been together for 10 years. We found the perfect venue and they had a Saturday free just three months down the line, so we went for it.

I don't think we initially realized the amount of work involved in planning a wedding and that combined with demanding full time jobs soon took its toll.

We found details of Julia in a wedding magazine and thought it was worth investigating some help but had no idea what to expect and how much it would cost. We didn't want someone to take over completely and for our wedding day to lose its individuality, this did not happen at all.

Julia didn't make any decisions for us, she just did the ground work and presented us with the options, from wedding bands, casino, fireworks stationary...the list goes on. It allowed us to select tried and tested suppliers without having to research them ourselves.

Julia is just lovely. Very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and hard working. Her fees are very reasonable and due to her expansive knowledge, you can achieve far more in a day with her help than you can in a week on your own!

On our wedding day, Julia arrived early and left late, taking time to check we were okay throughout. She worked extremely hard to co-ordinate the suppliers and guests so that everything run effortlessly. I'm sure lots of things went wrong behind the scenes but we knew nothing about them.

Julia also went out of her way to make our family and friends feel extremely welcome and relaxed and even decorated the bridal suite which was a special treat at the end of a tiring but perfect day.

We can't recommend Julia highly enough. Just being able to sit back, relax and enjoy the most special day of your life is worth every penny a thousand times over.

I wasn’t sure whether a wedding planner was for me, but having had Julia’s help with our wedding, I don’t think I could have done it without her. Or at least, it would have been ten times more stressful and I wouldn’t have enjoyed the day nearly as much.

After our first meeting, my now husband said, ‘I was so sure I was going to say, no we don’t need a wedding planner, but having met Julia I say definitely!’, and my parents were the same. In fact, even our vicar said on the day ‘where did you find her? She’s very good’.

Julia really listened to our vision for the wedding, which included trying not to be too extravagant, and came up with fantastic ideas that made planning actually enjoyable rather than stressful. From giving me inspiration for the design of our invitations, to suggesting great activities for the children, her experience and ideas were invaluable. So many of my friends have said that ours was the best wedding they have been to, and our flower girl told her mother it was the best day of her life!

Not only is Julia meticulous and organised, but she’s also lovely, warm, approachable and clever, and not in the slightest bit pushy.

We contacted Julia because we needed help with planning the wedding, we hadn’t even considered having help on the day itself. After our first meeting, we chose Julia’s ‘On the Day’ package because it seemed the most cost-effective way, and it actually included planning meetings and  help on the day itself. I am so glad we did!

 

On the day, I was relaxed and happy from the moment I woke up and a big part of that was knowing that Julia was in control, and that she would be there to help with any problems that arose. By this stage, Julia felt more like a friend, and it was just lovely sharing my excitement with her and having her around.
 
Our venue came with its’ own venue co-ordinator and Julia was fantastic working with the team already in place. We arranged for Julia to attend our final venue meeting and she was very sensitive to the situation and didn’t tread on anyone’s toes. In fact, I felt that our venue co-ordinator was very grateful to have Julia there to help.

Julia Wilson is an angel and if any of my friends are getting married in Somerset, I will insist they contact her! Julia saved us huge amounts on the wedding, by the discounts we had through her contacts (e.g. stage hire was almost half price) and by her brilliant ideas.  My brother thought we must have paid thousands for Julia’s help and was shocked to hear this was not the case at all.

I recommend Julia Wilson very highly indeed, and am sure that anyone who has her as their wedding planner will be very glad they did!

Mark and I were married on 4th July 2009; our wedding went like clockwork,

largely down to the efforts of JDW Weddings. Julia Wilson, (JDW Weddings) handled all the final details of our wedding; ensure that our wedding day went to plan. Everything from our journeys to the church, to the timing and organisation of the wedding reception, was carried out in immaculate style.

Making use of Julia's on the day service was probably the best decision we made about our wedding. From the first time we met Julia, we were confident that she would understand what we wanted and would make sure that it was delivered exactly as we wanted on the day. This eased our nerves in the run up to the wedding and meant that on the day we could completely relax in the knowledge that everything would go smoothly.

And of course, we were not disappointed! Julia was on top of everything from the moment she arrived and worked tirelessly until she left to ensure that we had the most wonderful day. We loved having Julia at our wedding - she enthused about it, was charming to our guests and other suppliers (everyone commented how fabulous she was) and was always thinking of the little things to help us (fetching lipstick for a top up for the photos...).

Julia did everything she could to help us - she took a dvd recording of the service, speeches and first dance, acted as master of ceremonies, made confetti cones, decorated our room with petals, candles and wedding cake(!), decorated the car, took photos of things the offcial photographer wasn't there to take... the list goes on... We will be forever thankful to Julia for helping to make our day so special and we would strongly recommend her to any brides and grooms to be out there.

"I met Julia at the stunning wedding of Lisa and Charlie Seymour which took place at Babington House near Frome, Somerset.

I am normally wary of wedding planners as in my experience, most don't know what they are doing and end up alienating other suppliers by their lack of knowledge and attitudes. However with Julia I was in for a pleasant surprise.

Julia was friendly, efficient, approachable and in control at all times throughout the wedding, without ever being intrusive. She ensured that everything ran smoothly, went to plan and was on time. Lisa never had to think about anything other than enjoying her day. If something was going to crop up, Julia had already anticipated it and took action to keep the proceedings running apparently effortlessly.

Our wedding day was a fairytale come true. It was 24 hours of sheer bliss and that is down to one person, Julia Wilson, the most extra-ordinary woman I have ever met. Julia met every single challenge with patience, expertise, level headedness, and the most amazing smile. I have many happy memories of the preparations for our wedding at Babington house but one that will always put a smile on my lips and that summed up Julia’s total dedication was when we had just had a meeting at my house with a potential florist, I had to rush off to collect my daughter from school and had left the bath running with all samples of roses inside. When I had realised that I had left the water on I called Julia, she drove to meet me en route, went back to my house and averted what could have been a monumental disaster. There are many other tales of her heroism during the planning process but too numerous to list. If you think you don’t need a wedding coordinator and can keep your sanity and enjoy the day fully…think again. Julia is a consummate perfectionist and has since become a great friend. She made our wedding and our memories what they are and we shall forever be grateful.
